The citizens of Nelson and surrounding areas respectfully request that an area in the Nelson Cemetery be allocated for Green Burials. This section would meet the needs of a variety of religious faiths and an ever-growing number of environmentally conscious consumers who want a disposition option that is sustainable and eco-friendly.

    More people are becoming aware of the negative effects of "conventional" burial methods such as embalming, fiberglass grave liners, and cremation.

   We understand the City of Nelson has by-laws that can be amended to reflect our communities’ diversity. Green Burials within the Nelson Cemetery will serve to minimize the effect on the environment, allowing the public to make positive choices that will impact our beautiful area for generations to come.
