Good evening everyone! Earlier today I had the opportunity to talk with Tom Bailey of the Commercial Appeal about our February 15th social media event. He’s working on a story, so be on the lookout. His insight into the situation at Booksellers is a new perspective: the story of Booksellers through the eyes of a reporter. As a reporter, there are a lot of different accounts of the story you’re covering and it’s your responsibility to figure out how to piece the story together. This process is usually straightforward as soon as you figure out a timeline of events and figure out the credibility of everyone you’ve talked to/read about (emphasis on usually). With the case of Booksellers, there have been dozens of different facts and aspects of the story that made the situation at Booksellers confusing. I believe many have lost hope and conceded that Booksellers will close permanently. Well, I’m here to refute that by stating that there is hope and we will prove it on Wednesday, February 15th. We moved from the gathering support phase of this petition into the taking-action phase. This will be our chance to prove to not only local investors, but the rest of Memphis that we are serious about saving Booksellers because of what it means to us. And with that, I’d like to share with you the next part of planning for the love campaign. Social media is a part nearly everyone’s day. Even if you don’t own any social media accounts, you most likely here about social media at some point during the day. And there’s a reason for that. Social networking has become a crucial database of essentially “live news” among other posts. This makes it an extremely potent force for spreading news quickly, efficiently, and to a large number of people. For our case, social media will be an imperative aspect of encouraging folks to share messages of support and love for Booksellers. While I’ll be working on starting the ad campaign over the next few days, it will be all 3,016 supporters’ responsibilities to help spread our message on February 15th. Below I explain exactly how you can do that. So, on February 15th, I’d like to encourage you to share a story, message, or whatever else you want to say in support of Booksellers on social media with the #MemphisGetsLit and #ShowLoveForBooksellers. Not only do we need to fill the website with supportive comments, but also on social media. I hope you join me in the campaign to help save Booksellers next Wednesday! February 15th Event Info GoFundMe Update: $560 out of $1200 raised-This is enough money to get several thousand flyers printed and a new, professional website up; however, I would still like to raise some money to help fund a social media campaign to spread the word about the February 15th event.
