The Issue

Currently we have roughly 20-30 children and their families in our neighborhood who this impacts. Our neighborhood is currently unsafe for the kids to play and ride their bicycles around our neighborhood in it’s current condition. On July 24th 2024 my son (8 years old) was riding his bicycle with his friends when he was struck by a car in broad daylight. It took three months for him to recover from the physical injuries he sustained. However, we are still working through what happened as a family. The healing process from something like this does not stop with the physical damage.

We have asked the town to install four new stop signs. Two at the corner of Crannell and Winslow and two at the corner of Crannell and Lennox (where my son was hit). This would make both of those areas four way stops instead of two way stops. I’m also asking for speed bumps to placed on Mason road, Brookman Ave, Winslow, Lennox, and Crannell. I’m also requesting a speed reduction in our neighborhood from 30MPH to 20 MPH. Im asking for the speed bumps in hopes it will stop people from exceeding the speed limit in our neighborhood, making it safer for our children to play.

The safety of our children should be as much of a priority for the town as it is for every parent that resides in our neighborhood. I’m asking for your help in making this happen for our children. They deserve to be kids in their own neighborhood.
