JPC Design and Construction LLC is asking the Flowery Branch City Council to rezone 5512 McEver Road from neighborhood shopping to highway business to allow for a Hardee's fast food restaurant to be built.

This proposal has already passed the first vote and unless we create a strong opposition, the proposal will go through and a new Hardee's will be built.  Let's show City Council that this is NOT the type of business that Flowery Branch residents want.

This is not the type of business that needs to be built at the "Gateway to Flowery Branch"  It is important for us to continue to allow for smart growth in our city. We need to put things in that will benefit our citizens. Fast food businesses lead to transient business.  Their parking lots are often used as places to congregate, have the tendency to increase trash being thrown about landing into the side yards of the neighborhoods and numerous other issues including increased traffic that is best seen alongside highway exits.  Flowery Branch currently has several of these businesses located off our 985 highway exit. 

With the new housing developments being built in the area, including the new townhouses that will be built right across the street, this area would be much better served by a local business such as a pizza shop, sandwich shop or other type of business that will blend better with the growing neighborhood.  A place where families can use the service that is being provided and not include bright neon lights.  Currently McEver Rd. does not have any fast food restaurants even leading into the busy Oakwood area and into Gainesville.  Let's keep the neighborhood feel and vote no to fast food.
