Hi Everyone,

I am nervous to say this but as the date for the full council meeting gets closer things have started to change and both councillors are now engaging with our issues. We have also finally been invited to a meeting with a senior member of the council to look at the near term fixes needed to get the children playing sport again, borders made safe and to develop an enduring plan for regular maintenance and capital projects at the park.

We also want to explore why they changed the operating model by removing our part time park keeper and replacing him with irregular attendance by operatives who don't know the park/community and have caused damage. The rapid decline in the park ever since has highlighted the great work Gerald did covering inefficiencies in the council parks department.  I know from a lot of your comments Gerald's removal was the main reason for signing the petition and many recognised the great work he did and how he made the park feel safe and welcoming.

In parallel to the petition I know Gerald has been going through various council hearings and panels to clear his name and to work towards recovering the position he loves and does so well. Today we received some good news and whilst it is too early to share the specifics it does look promising.

As always any questions and ideas please let me know- it is fluid situation and I will prepare the content for the petition submission over the weekend.

Take Care

Des
