Once again thank you everyone for supporting the petition now almost 1650 signatures which is amazing support.
It has been week of dreadful weather and Wish park like everywhere else has been sodden, but that didn't stop a council workers driving a truck over the cricket square on Tuesday with the impact on the square pictured here. It is crackers that a piece of blue rope could not have been put around the square to stop this happening, if that is not mad enough we are now being told that the rope is a tripping hazard and the square needs to be fenced off! If this has been know why wasn't it done in June - the cricket square is disappearing very fast and difficult to see how it can be safe for next season as there has been no normal preparation and will be dangerous.
Football pitched remain closed and now covered in loose topsoil which dogs love digging up and rolling in - dog owners not so keen.
We have now decided to take the petition to the full council meeting on the 14th December with all 54 members, so not the smaller parks committee on 14th November. There are a number of reasons which I can explain if you want to make contact.
We also had some coverage in the Argus - it wasn't prompted they picked up on the petition and sadly put an old photo up with active pitches and a roped off cricket square. There has been a lot of comments on that site that are worth a look - https://www.theargus.co.uk/news/23892140.brighton-residents-call-council-maintain-wish-park/?cmpid=cmt
Please keep sharing the petition to make people aware of the issues, they may not be park users now but as all us locals know at some stage it becomes an intrinsic part of life.
