Hi - my name is Brad O'Neill and I'm starting this petition to gain signatures to support making the intersection of Willow Avenue and Mayflower Drive (in New Glasgow) a 3-way stop.

Cars are travelling too fast going up Willow Avenue from the Sanborne Street stop sign and are travelling too fast down Willow Avenue from the 8th Street stop sign.  Cars are also speeding around the turn from Willow Avenue onto Mayflower Drive - continuing at a high rate of speed on Mayflower Drive.  More and more cars are travelling on these streets to save time - cutting across to Munroe Avenue.  Other neighbours and I have been noticing some close calls in recent months.

1. There are many families with small children that live on Willow Avenue and Mayflower Drive.
2. Many people walk for exercise using the Westside loop and use the crosswalk at Willow Avenue/Mayflower Drive.
3. Many children from Willow Avenue walk to A.G. Baillie Elementary School, having to use extra caution at the crosswalk at Willow Avenue/Mayflower Drive.
4. This intersection is a main bus stop for New Glasgow Academy and North Nova Education Centre.

I think it's worth it to keep our residents safe.  This is a proactive approach to avoid any potential tragedy.  I invite you to comment on your personal experiences with this intersection - all feedback will be submitted to our current councillor - Fred El Haddad.
