Patrick O'sullivan started this petition to Governor Ned Lamont and

As a community, we're facing challenging times never before seen in our lifetime. The toll this has taken, not just economically, but physically, mentally, and emotionally is something that will be discussed for generations to come.

It's times like this where we have to come together and take care of one another. While there are many uncertainties, one thing that is certain is the positive effects of exercise and the community of people that it brings together.

Research has shown time and time again that exercise strengthens our immune system. It lowers the effects of depression. It protects us from many of the same things that lead to more serious complications from COVID-19. And most importantly of all right now, it gives our community an outlet to cope with the stresses we're all battling.

This petition is asking Governor Ned Lamont permission to reopen Micro Gyms and Pilates and Yoga Studios on May 27th so that we can help our community again just like we have helped thousands of them in the past lose weight, build strength, and take their health to unprecedented levels.

Gyms around the state are not one size fits all. R3 Fitness is not the same as a 25,000 sq foot gym with hundreds and hundreds of people lined up next to each other on treadmills.

R3 Fitness is already a small training gym, operating in small group training standards of 3-5 people. Opening today may not be realistic but it could be open in the near future with the correct contingency planning, which I have been working on since our closing.

As Phase 1 begins, we feel even more left in the dark due to the choices of businesses that are allowed to be open. If it's safe to get your haircut while the hairdresser is not six feet apart from you, (mere inches away from each other’s faces), how can it not be safe to work out in a small group, practicing 6 ft of social distancing in place and outside of our facility?

Small boutique gyms need to be thought of at this time. Not just for the struggling small businesses owners but, for the health and happiness of our members. It is our mission to make sure that our community members stay healthy even with current events at hand. Exercise is essential for the physical and mental health of our community. Many articles also touch on how regular exercise can aid in reducing the risk of acute respiratory distress syndrome, which is the leading cause of death from COVID-19.

Please sign if you agree and want to get back into the gyms:)

Thank you!

In Good Health,

R3 Fitness Team
