Good morning beautiful people,

the new commissioner, Angel Quiros, has made some promising statements so let’s make him accountable. Please share this petition and call/email him our expectations: 860-692-7480 Or angel.quiros@ct.gov

1. Release all incarcerated people 65+yo or with medical conditions regardless of time served to decrease their chances of contracting and dying from Covid19 in their care.
-Funding home confinement and other alternatives to incarceration that works on rehabilitation and decarceration by utilizing work force skills development/internships/livable wages for jobs, educational opportunity, mental health care access (therapists, meds if needed, and social workers).

2. Adequate time for the incarcerated people to clean and sanitize their cells specifically a hour not to cut into shower or recreational time since they are already locked up 22-23 hours a day.

3. A shower every day

4. Standardized recreational time of 8 hours each day so that the choice to shower or make a call to loved ones are not causing mental anguish, poor hygiene, and detriment to the bonds that will prevent recidivism once released

5. Reinstated face to face visits behind the glass is okay for now but we do not want that or virtual calls to become the norm!

-Allowing children under there age of 18yo to get on a virtual call alone with their incarcerated parent!

6. A family friendly visits so children under 19yo can interact with their incarcerated parent: hug them, cuddle, smell them, play (patty cake) or color without feeling oppressed to build and strengthen their bonds.
