Police violence and racism are Connecticut problems, and people in our state are demanding change. The Connecticut General Assembly will be in a special session this week. During that time, legislators will vote on LCO #3471, "An Act Concerning Police Accountability."

This bill includes important things, like banning qualified immunity for police and prohibiting stop and frisk. But we're up against the entire political machine of policing, which is trying hard to stop this bill from passing. Your legislators hear from police lobbyists, who are especially trying to get rid of a critical piece of the bill: ending qualified immunity.

Policing threatens Black and Latinx people's lives. At least five people have died at the hands of police in Connecticut in 2020 alone. Every legislator has a responsibility to stand up for Black and Latinx lives and value those lives over the policing lobby's fearmongering.
