Hold Eversource Accountable for Incompetent Storm Preparation and Response

The Issue

We, the undersigned, demand an investigation into Eversource leadership’s handling of the storm, including, but not limited to:

1) Failure to assess the risk presented by Tropical Storm Isaias;

2) Dereliction to prepare ahead of Isaias’s arrival;

3) Lack of timely and coordinated response to the damage and outages; and,

4) Neglect to provide accurate, useful information to its customers regarding power restoration.

Inadequate storm preparation endangers Connecticut. Prolonged power outages lead to dangerous and life-threatening conditions. Our citizens will not be swindled by over-paid and under-motivated energy executives. Connecticut will not endure relentless rate-increases to support an unreliable utility and the multi-million-dollar compensation of Eversource CEO James J. Judge.

Eversource’s leadership must be held accountable for its incompetent handing of Tropical Storm Isaias, and it must make immediate changes to its storm preparation and response plan in order to prevent another avoidable and unnecessary multi-day, state-wide outage.
