As much as the next person I like a grumble about council tax, but it wasn’t until the proposed 3.4% hike that I realised after a little research that NPT is the most expensive in the UK! That’s right, areas such as Chelsea and Kensington in London have cheaper rates! They have a huge number of services and amenities, my village doesn’t even have a shop. Yet the people of NPT are charged the most expensive rates in the uk. The City of London charges £1000 p/a, I’m paying £1900.

The council claims its trying to balance the books. Well let me ask you, did we need the road painting red outside calor gas? No. Do we need any of these mini roundabouts that pop up where it’s completely unnecessary and in most cases actually more dangerous than the T junction originally there? No! If money is so tight why waste it on this utter rubbish? 

The rate for NPT is completely disproportionate in all ways, and the fact they’re even contemplating another rise blatantly shows how little the respect they have for those of us living here.

With enough signatures I hope to get this brought to media attention and to have our rates independently reviewed.
