We are gravely concerned by the lack of response from the NCAA regarding the murders of Ahmaud Arbery, Breonna Taylor and George Floyd. Therefore, with this letter we intend to provide a brief and real history of the relationship between race and sport, while also providing five actionable items we expect to be pursued by your organization moving forward. While we appreciate the opportunities we are given both academically and athletically, it is important to call out the hierarchies that exist within the organization. Therefore, we are here to demand specific steps be taken toward deconstructing the racist pillars upholding sport as a microcosm of society.
