NBC should add Snoop Dogg & Martha Stewart to 2028 Paralympics Coverage

The Issue

In a world where popularity and revenue often dictate what gets media attention, we find it disheartening that an event like the Paralympics does not receive the attention it deserves. The Summer Olympics in Paris attracted over five billion viewership, while the Paralympics, an equally inspiring and captivating event, had only a fraction of that audience at 15 million viewers (that's 0.3%). This is not just a matter of viewership, it is about giving deserving athletes the recognition and respect they merit, and fostering global camaraderie. Snoop Dogg and Martha Stewart have proven they can attract more viewers, more sponsorship and tell meaningful stories about the athletes.

We believe that NBC Universal, already a giant in the media industry, has the potential to significantly improve this disparity, by including well-loved and influential figures, such as Snoop Dogg and Martha Stewart, in their coverage of the 2028 Summer Paralympics. Leveraging Snoop Dogg's extensive local and international platform and Martha Stewart's influence in tandem could serve to bring greater awareness to and focus on the Paralympic Games.

Both sets of games are set to take place in Los Angeles and we believe it is a perfect time for NBC Universal to make this change. Involvement from Snoop and Martha could open up an influx of sponsorship opportunities, increase endorsements, and foster a stronger global understanding and appreciation of these athletes.

This appeal is not just about changing how the Paralympic Games are viewed. It is also an appeal for fair and equal media representation of all athletes, regardless of the nature of their competition. And it honors the spirit of the Paralympics itself – determination, courage, and demand for equality. For these reasons, we are urging NBC Universal to extend their contract with Snoop Dogg and Martha Stewart to include coverage of the 2028 Summer Paralympic Games.
