Sever all ties of NBA to Stephen Jackson and his Antisemitism

The Issue

In the past 24 hours it has become clear that the NBA will not stand against Anti-Antisemitism, that athletes and media/administrative staff are not held to a consistent standard of tolerance, and that blatant public hate for people of the Jewish faith will be tolerated.

Beginning with DeSean Jackson of the NFL and Philadelphia Eagles, tweets have been made quoting Hitler and Louis Farrakhan targeting Jews by saying that they "blackmail" and "extort" America as part of "their plan for world domination". In addition to direct action necessary on the part of the NFL and specifically the Philadelphia Eagles, this petition is directed to Adam Silver Commissioner of the NBA, and Ice Cube the founder of the BIG3 tournament.

As we turn to Stephen Jackson, a prominent spokesmen on ESPN, FOX, former NBA player, and recent BIG3 player who has had a popular and highlighted voice on recent matters of injustice, we find tweets and videos that defend, and agree with these quotes and DeSean Jackson's position.

These statements MUST NOT BE TOLERATED. Antisemitism in all forms, especially that which directly quotes the mastermind behind the genocide of millions, may not be allowed to permeate our society. Being permitted to speak on a widely respected platform of ESPN and on personal accounts with the brand backing of the NBA and BIG3, Stephen Jackson is encouraging a hate filled narrative of lies that has caused massive loss of life, suffering, and continued prejudice across the world. Jewish Americans have played a major role in the history of this amazing sport that we love including the following:

Commissioner Adam Silver, Former Commissioner David Stern (RIP), Cleveland Cavaliers GM Koby Altman, Chicago Bulls Owner Jerry Reinsdorf, former Cavaliers Coach David Blatt, former NBA President Joel Litvin, HOF Coach Red Aurbach (RIP), Toronto Raptors Owner Larry Tanenbaum, Longest tenured NBA Owner (Bullets/Wizards) Abe Pollin (RIP), Players Omri Caspi, Amar'e Staudemire, and many many more.

Not only must all of the NBA community take a stand against intolerance of all forms, but the NBA and BIG3 leadership (and ESPN as well) must not ever allow someone with such open Antisemitic beliefs to be allowed any form of brand recognition, or to represent the NBA in any way. Some NBA players have responded in comments supporting Stephen Jackson, appropriate actions must be taken as well for any that have agreed with his animosity.  As a proud Jewish American and avid fan of basketball and the NBA I know that I speak on behalf of many that this hate will not be ignored and will cast a horrible stain on the image of this community if it is allowed to remain unchecked.

In the matter of Donald Sterling, the NBA acted with diligence and swift justice in banning him for life. Stephen Jackson has expressed equally hateful and harmful words not in private, but in public with pride. We expect that he be banned, and the NBA also sever any ties with the BIG3 tournament if he is allowed to participate with their league. Hatred cannot be endorsed financially and the NBA cannot sit idly as a bystander.
