Halfcourt 4-Pointers in the NBA

Halfcourt 4-Pointers in the NBA
The Issue
You know that shot. Grabbing the rebound, sprinting past 3 defenders and taking the shot—from behind the line—and we're not talking about that curved line that arches around the hoop. We're talking about that straight line across the middle, 50 feet long. The ball flies through the air—and swish. 3 points.
Wait, what? Only three points? Why not 4? Basketball players have been denied this since the beginnings of basketball. The distance from the three point line to half court is so great; it deserves extra points. The rarity of these would make the half-court shot more exciting as well. The best shooter ever, Stephen Curry, made only 4 in the 2015-16 season. Basketball players will begin to take more half court shots, and new legends will be born. Comebacks will happen more often, as 3 of these shots can create or erase a double digit lead completely.
The half court shot will become an icon of basketball. Fans will be dazzled as a new generation of stars arise—the half court shooter. The half court shot differs from the three point shot in the way that the most common way of doing it is off of one leg, instead of a common jump shot. New techniques will be developed to perfection.
Scoring will become easier. Imagine 125 point games being average. This is the way of the 4-point half court shot.
