Stand Against Family Dollar Liquor License Application!

The Issue

Concerned citizens of the Navajo Nation, the greater Window Rock and St. Michaels community, and advocates of Health & Safety are asking that Family Dollar withdraw its application to sell liquor at the St. Michaels, AZ location (Store #32091) for the reasons listed below:

Family Dollar represents itself as a distributor of general household merchandise and food, and as such attracts patrons of all ages, including the very young and very old. It can continue to be profitable without the selling of alcoholic beverages.

It is UNLAWFUL to sell, distribute, manufacture or consume alcohol on the Navajo Nation. Although Family Dollar Store #32091 is on private land, it is contained within the Navajo Reservation community.

Our community needs and deserves more family oriented businesses. We are continuously challenged with safety and health issues directly related to the disproportionate rate of alcohol abuse and addiction within our community. With another establishment licensed to sell liquor, the rates of crime, violence, theft, and even death will rise dramatically. We cannot afford to have this happen to an already high risk community, especially in the midst of a serious health pandemic.

Please STAND WITH US to protect our families, build a safe, cohesive community that fosters better health outcomes, and positive well-being of our residents. SIGN THIS PETITION and INVITE OTHERS to do so as well!
