NAU Postpone Commencement Instead of Cancel It

NAU Postpone Commencement Instead of Cancel It
The Issue
All Lumberjack Community members (including family) are welcome to show their support for the cause by signing this petition. All Lumberjacks- past, present, and future should stand together at this time in support of each other. For many NAU Seniors, Commencement is what has been driving their commitment to their academics for the past four years. With all the uncertainty surrounding the COVID19 outbreak, many seniors are anxious without a solid answer as to what is going to happen with their Commencement for this May 2020. We ask for the chance to celebrate our achievements with our fellow classmates, peers, family members, faculty members, and committed administrative personnel. Students have worked tirelessly to get here and have earned the right to be recognized. Postponing the date will provide students with the respect they have worked so hard for instead of making them feel like they do not deserve to be recognized. A virtual graduation cannot give students the celebration and honor that they deserve in obtaining their degree. This ceremony will prove that the Lumberjack Community can overcome any obstacle that stands in its way- including a global crisis.
