Dear Supporter:
Thank you so much for joining the petition asking Nature Forward to remediate hazards at their new play space! So far we have 40 signatures and almost 1700 views!
Last week I delivered the signatures to Lisa Alexander, Executive Director, and Alison Pearce, Manager, and to date have not received a response. However, they "offered" to un-enroll my son from their preschool and "asked" me to stop speaking to other parents about the safety hazards. Nature Forward continues its pattern of dismissal and hostility, unfortunately. I asked them to post contact information at the play space so people know to contact them in the event of an injury - and they dismissed the idea (but they have space available to post contact information for renting their property for events). I asked them to be proactive about collecting data and feedback on the play space and injuries, and they also dismissed the idea. I asked them to see if the ropes could be detached, and they dismissed the idea. Nature Forward continues to deny concerns about visibility and falling in the Bird's head/neck, and whacking heads above the slide even though several additional injuries (including one with blood) and near injuries have been submitted to them.
With summer camp on the horizon, a sizable number of children will venture to Nature Forward's play space. Please continue sharing this petition and raising awareness about the hazards on the Bird. You can also contact Lisa Alexander directly at lisa.alexander@natureforward.org to request an update.
Thank you so much for being proactive about kid safety and requesting that Nature Forward fix unnecessary hazards. It's not "risky" play - Nature Forward is being reckless.
Sincerely,
Catherine Howard
