Johnnie Veal has been confined in the Illinois Dept. of Corrections for 43 years, since the age of 17 and he is now 60 years of age. He was sentenced to 100 to 199 years for the murder of a Chicago Police Officer in 1970. Johnnie has always maintained his innocence to this very day as he seeks relief from Governor Pat Quinn with his pending clemency. Mr. Veal has since transformed from a young boy into a man of great accomplishments toward a positve future and his rehabilitation endeavors with numerous educationals degrees which can help him fulfill a life to support himself and can be a great contribution in a community setting as well as to his family whom has been his strength for so many years.
