The Issue

Healthcare organizations are very good at recognizing nurses who provide the heart of caring for patients in their institutions each year. But little, if anything, is said of the mentors, nursing leaders, experienced nurses who loved their profession and passed on their stories, knowledge, skills and understanding of the art of nursing to the next generation of nurses. Congressman Nathaniel Moran, we value your voice for us, the “Retired Nurses of East Texas” and the United States, request to establish an ongoing national day of recognition every Thursday, during May 6 - 12 of Nurse Week, each year, for the countless hours of service to the people we served. We have reached out to retired nurses and nursing who are currently practicing, but will someday retire, to see if they would sign a petition for a National Retired Nurse Day on Thursday during Nurse Week each year. The response was an overwhelming YES! We are in the process of collecting their digital signatures here in Gregg County in East Texas and around the country.    If you agree to this petition request, mark I agree.
