Release Cain's Accuser from Her Confidentiality Agreement

Release Cain's Accuser from Her Confidentiality Agreement

The Issue

This morning, Joel Bennett, the lawyer of one of the women who accused Cain of sexual harassment, asked the National Restaurant Association to allow him to issue a statement on her behalf about the incident.  This afternoon, the NRA responded to the request saying they would decide tomorrow whether or not to allow the statement (to date, the woman has been barred from speaking by a non-disclosure clause of the settlement she made with the organization).

We are putting forth this petition to demand that the National Restaurant Association release the woman from her confidentiality agreement.

Despite the tremendous progress of American women, discrimination and harassment in the workplace continue to undermine their ability to succeed. Confronting abuse wherever and whenever it takes place is critical to overcoming the barriers that prevent American daughters from realizing their individual potential and from fully participating in American capitalism.

By urging the NRA to release the woman from her confidentiality agreement, they will demonstrate their commitment to the women of the United States who are both the majority of American voters and the majority of the population as a whole.
