National Offender Registries

National Offender Registries
The Issue
It is 2024 and the U.S. Government is still relying on third parties to create registries for tracking important offender data across the country. While this has worked in some cases, such as for https://www.nsopw.gov/ other cases are left up to the states and counties to determine what to do. This results in a different process depending on the state/county and some places entirely having no registries for tracking offenders. This means that people who abuse other people, animals, disabled people, the elderly and more are walking around this country with almost nothing keeping them in check or alerting us of their presence.
If the U.S. continues to neglect this issue and deflect it to the state/county level, these offenders will continue getting away with their crimes. It's no secret that the prison system in this country is a revolving door that continues to spit these people back out into the world to re-offend, often times with increased knowledge about how to get away with it from past experiences and meeting like-minded people in prison. We need to utilize technology to its fullest extent to track these offenders and alert ordinary citizens of their presence. In the same way a sex offender has to go door to door to announce their status to neighbors, we should be alerted of the presence of people who have a history of violence and abuse toward others. There should also be no limitation for how long you're on the registry - you should be there for life.
We cannot continue to allow these people to get away with their crimes and terrorize our lives. There are far too many cases of repeat offenders, well, repeatedly offending. These people need to be tracked and reported to all locals when they move to an area, especially in the case of animal abusers, where they could be strolling around your area looking for beloved pets to snatch up and do despicable things to. Standing by and allowing this issue to persist will ensure it only gets worse with time in most states/counties. Stop standing by and do something to prevent this issue from continuously happening; sign this petition to help get this in front of a judge who can actually do something about it.
