2 weeks ago I finally moved into a permanent safe house. This took over four years on a priority wait-list, and took 8 months from being upgraded to severe risk. If I hadn't been on the list for as long as I already was, I believe I would still be living with security cameras for protection knowing they had no ability to keep me safe.
This housing shortage is no longer about me, I know I am safe now. This housing shortage is now about those who are still stuck or trapped, and cannot speak up. I am not naive to think that there's not deaths and injuries occurring that would be prevented if there was an increase in safe housing.
For that reason I will continue to speak up, campaign and petition for the promised increases to actually occur. I will encourage all supporters to support specifically increase in short term and long term safe housing for all victims.
