National Honor for Nigerian Guinness World Record Holders

National Honor for Nigerian Guinness World Record Holders
The Issue
Nigeria has a long and proud history of achievement, and our citizens have set many Guinness World Records over the years. These achievements are a testament to the talent, dedication, and hard work of our people.
One such example is Nigerian chef Hilda Effiong Bassey, popularly known as Hilda Baci. Baci broke the Guinness World Record for the "longest cooking marathon by an individual" on May 15, 2023. She cooked for 87 hours and 50 minutes, beating the previous record of 87 hours and 45 minutes set by Chef Lata Tondon of India in 2019.
Other Nigerian Guinness World Record holders include:
- Guinness World Record holder for longest DJ set – Oyinmiebi Asu professionally known as DJ Yin. (2021)
- Divine Ikubor aka Rema – Record for ‘Calm Down’ as the first No.1 Hit on The Official MENA Chart, the world’s first regional streaming chart. (May 2023)
- Endurance athlete Emmanuel Korir, who set the world record for the fastest marathon in 2018.
These are just a few examples of the many Nigerians who have achieved great things. They are an inspiration to us all, and they deserve to be honored by our nation.
We urge the government to establish a national honor for Nigerian Guinness World Record holders. This would be a way to recognize their achievements and to inspire others to achieve great things.
