NHL.TV is a streaming service offered by the National Hockey League (NHL).  This is a subscription package where by a subscriber can stream games played in the NHL.  It is not reliant upon having a cable TV or satellite subscription.  However, several games a week are subject to a blackout (games not available to a subscriber of the service).  

The streaming service offered by NHL.TV has two types of blackouts.

1.  If the subscriber is in a geographical area close to a city with an NHL team every game that team plays are blacked out to the subscriber.

2.  If a game is chosen to be nationally televised it will be blacked out.  Some of these blackouts are scheduled and others are unscheduled and occur when a national network (NHL Network, NBCSN, NBC, etc.) exercise an option to televise a game.

The purpose of this petition is to bring to light that a streaming service should be treated equivalently to cable & satellite and to end the practice of blackouts on the NHL.TV subscription service to give hockey fans the most value for their dollar.
