National Guard Help to 160+ Stranded People In Three Rivers
The Issue
There are 160+ residents trapped in a portion of Three Rivers, California off of South Fork Drive. South Fork is a one way in and out road, and a bridge that connects residents to the main town has washed away. There is significant damage beyond just that bridge. There are also pockets of residents that are trapped within the South Fork community, due to major wash outs and collapsed bridges.
There is also more stranded people off North Fork Dr, and Mineral King Road due to a bridge failure and major road washouts. That adds up to an additional 30-40+ people.
We have a high volume of elderly people stranded that would be considered high risk for medical emergencies.
Our roads maintenance relies on a county roads crew due to Three Rivers being unincorporated, but they have failed to fully repair the bridge and road from the last flood in January.
We are asking that the National Guard step in to do temporary repairs as soon as possible as we have no access to any emergency services or stores for basic necessities.
