Tell National Geographic how you feel after the organization you grew up admiring started promoting the keeping of wild caught animals as "status symbols"

The ultimate status symbol, that's how National Geographic describe the catching of millions of wild animals from the worlds’ coral reefs.
Millions, yes, MILLIONS of wild reef fish are taken from our reefs and die each year on the way to someone's marine aquarium / fishtank. Even more will die in the tanks each year from starvation or stress. And National Geographic is promoting this with their TV show, Fish Tank Kings. We should be teaching our children and the world to respect the oceans, not promoting our reefs as the source of your next rare "status symbol".
We sadly see this harvesting of everything from nudibranchs to shrimp to fish to corals, here in South Africa and by the looks of it everywhere in the world. It's NOT cool. There is nothing quite like snorkeling, admiring a gorgeous marine critter and someone swims up behind you with a net to take it home to the "tank"
