The Nigerian people can hardly boast of regular electricity supply. The electricity distribution companies (DISCOs) are unable to provide meter to accurately determine power consumption relying instead on estimated billing system adopted to cheat consumers. Coupled with epileptic power supply,, and an astronomical rise in general price levels leading to increase in cost of living, any increase in tariff will be counterproductive. What is needed in the power sector is to cancel estimated billing, provide meters for all consumers and increase power generation and distribution capacities. This affects all Nigerians- young and old, male and female, rich and poor.
