Iranian-Americans are here today to show support for, to stand in solidarity with, to be a part of, and to give voice to that which began a month ago. The spontaneous protests in reaction to the murder of Mahsa Amini – Iran’s Kurdish daughter – by the regime’s so-called “morality police” began with a rebellion and has now grown into a full-fledged revolution. A revolution that has united Iranians and a revolution that is unfolding across the entire country, as we speak here today. As a part of this great revolution, we are here to bear its historic message: “Women, Life, Freedom!”
Today, Iran’s revolution is being fought by Iranians collectively, in the streets of cities all across the country, by women and men of all ages, for today and its future generations. This revolution is being fought against an atrocious and evil regime. A regime which does not even spare children from oppression and execution. A regime with a Supreme Leader that gained power through terrorism and has since taken the country hostage for his own survival. The Supreme Leader, Khamenei, has used Iran as his shelter and shield for his terrorism and hostage taking, as well as his politics and policies.
Since the Islamic Revolution in 1979, the United States has had eight different administrations, both Democrat and Republican. They have tried various policies, from containment, engagement, sanctions, and even incentives. The only consistent message from this Regime has been Death to America, killing American servicemen, and destabilizing countless regions around the world. The Iranian people have used different methods and various outlets to express their desire to reform this regime, including demanding their democratic aspirations in the 2009 Green Movement. The Islamic Regime’s permanent answer have been execution, oppression, censorship, and brutal torture and imprisonments. Now the final resort for the Iranian people is a revolution. Today, we are here in front of the White House, to bring attention to the United States Government and all the freedom seeking nations of the world about the atrocities occurring in our home country of Iran.
Governments that want stability and peace in the Middle East, must recognize that the peace will never be achieved with the current Islamic Regime. Khamenei is not looking for the interests of his people, but instead using his power to subjugate Iranians with corrupt laws, gross human rights violations, and terrorism.

Mr. President, America must lead the world in cutting the financial and political ties that empower this authoritarian regime.

We as Iranian-Americans ask:

● Cease negotiations immediately with Iran’s regime on any matters, including but not limited to the nuclear deal.
● Expel and enforce a travel ban on all officials of the Islamic Republic to the United States and its allies.
● Block the Regime’s access to funds that are being used to support armed terrorist groups and destabilize the Middle East region, including Ukraine, as well as supporting government forces in the streets of Iran to kill and oppress its people.
● Ban any of the Regime’s lobbying arm in Washington D.C., and all persons connected to these organizations.
● Expel this Regime’s ambassadors, diplomats, and other responsible parties, to put pressure on other countries around the world to close their embassies in Iran.
● Remove this Regime from the United Nations’ Commission on the Status of Women.
● Facilitate Iranian’s access to the Internet (e.g., Starlink and anti-censorship technologies) and seek to dismantle the firewall so freedom can promulgate among the people.
● Convene a committee of Women leaders from the U.S. as well as countries around the world to show the women of Iran they are not alone.
● Meet with Iranian-Americans to hear our calls for action from our government.

When Patrick Henry demanded “Give me liberty or give me death,” he echoed the sentiment of thousands around the Americas. Thousands that later formed a new nation, built on the foundation of personal liberty and freedom of conscience. The Iranian women chanting, “Women, Life, Freedom” have the same wish.

Mr. President, the United States and the free world need to support the Iranian revolution for the sake of not only the oppressed women and men of Iran but for regional stability and global security.

Sincerely,

DC 4 Iran
