Why this petition matters

Started by LPN's ARE NURSES

Its said that  LPN & RN have two different scopes of practice. Rn's focus on the doing and the thinking skills, while LPN's focus is on doing the skills. Anyone holding a nursing license should know both. There are many LPN's across the country that want to know both. The NCSBN along with each state board of nursing on the local level should allow LPN's with a current license to get hands on training in a teaching hospital at a affordable rate. LPN's learning hands on from a RN holding a BSN or MSN that "other" skill set for 6-8 months should suffice and allow LPN's to sit for the RN NCLEX and be able to practice as a RN if the state boards are passed successfully. This is not to take away from traditional college learning & students that want to obtain an associates in nursing can still attend a traditional college setting for that higher education.

But, with the current crisis " Covid-19" why not allow competent nurses who have been in the field 2 years or more and who already have a license and the passion for healthcare gain hands on skills and allow the opportunity to provide the same level of care a RN does. Many bridge programs have outrageous entry requirements & fee's not to mention hectic schedules that don't allow the working LPN to return to school. NCSBN and all local state boards of nursing were asking for change. This is how you prepare our country for the upcoming nursing shortage and set our country up to be prepared for any future pandemics.
