During Game 2 of the NCAA Softball Tournament super regionals Missouri's pitcher was hit in the face with a line drive. This happens all too often. The distance from the mound to home plate is from 35-43 feet. Todays composite bats are designed to increase performance and can reach velocities potentially lethal to defensive players. We would like the NCAA to implement mandatory use of face masks for all pitchers, which will hopefully set the standard for all leagues such as USSSA, ASA, NSA and ISA to protect our athletes.
