Why this petition matters

Started by Ted Doyle

This petition seeks the nomination and election of professional baseball pitcher Tommy John to the National Baseball Hall of Fame.  Tommy John had a highly successful career spanning 26-years, finishing his career at the age of 46 with a 288 win record - the third-most wins of anyone not in Cooperstown and as the all-time leader for "no-decisions". His career includes three 20-win seasons, four All-Star nominations, a career bWAR of 61.6, with a 3.34 ERA over 4,710 innings, 20th-most innings of all time.  Tommy John is also forever linked to Baseball by way of the career saving surgery known today as "Tommy John Surgery", which he was the 1st recipient of, and for which in current time, 85% of games feature at least one pitcher who's had "Tommy John Surgery".  Tommy John has earned a place in history and he has earned a place in the Baseball Hall of Fame.
