Yesterday, September 20th, I was a guest speaker at an INPDUM conference in Newark, NJ. The conference was "live streamed" and recorded and I had delayed this posting, in the hopes of obtaining of copy of that panel discussion for you to hear and see for yourselves but was unable. It was a very powerful conference and I was particularly moved by the stories that were told by others on the panel with me, for the report they gave concerning our current circumstances was "real, truthful" and didn't play around with the facts. On the panel with me was Dawn Felton, the mother of Kwadir Felton who was shot in the head by police "lived" but was made "blind" by his injuries. Police thought they had killed him; he lived so they falsely accused him and had him arrested. He was sentenced to 16 years in prison, blind, suffering seizures and in constant pain - for a crime he did not commit! The magnitude of what was done to this woman's son deserves "a page" all to itself. And when I recover from simply "hearing it" I hope to do so. Also on the panel was Waleeah Brooks, President of INPDUM, Lawrence Hamm, civil rights activist, lecturer, and chairman of People's Organization for Progress, and the Keynote speaker was none other than Omali Yeshitela - Chairman of the African People's Socialist Party and founder of the UHURU Movement. UHURU means "freedom now" and is a word used often in greetings and farewells by INPDUM members. Omali Yeshitela was fresh from Ferguson and had first hand information on what was occurring and why. It was the "uncut version" which we heard during the conference. Some spoke of this fight and how it has never "ever" ended and others shared the tragedy of what was done to their loved ones by police. And still others, like Lawrence Hamm told how there isn't a Thursday that goes by in which they hold their meetings that families aren't there "looking for help" because a loved one has been "murdered, or brutalized" by police. The cases are multiplying and the available help is short supply. People literally have no place else to go. And everything I heard "reaffirmed me" in my demand for National Action Against Police Brutality and Murder! It is a demanded which includes the "wrongful incarceration" of millions who were incarcerated "unequally underneath the law". I spoke concerning this demand for action and based on what I had heard, there was little reason to confess the need. But I did so nonetheless, for the sake of those who might be watching by "live streaming". And when I had finished a "vote" of the assembly was taken which unanimously passed a resolution to "endorse and support" National Action Against Police Brutality and Murder! It is exactly what I'd had hoped for "support" concerning this action. The support and endorsement of INPDUM is very important to the action for they have several chapters throughout the United States as well as "internationally" in Toronto, London, and Stockholm. This is important because "international" attention and pressure must be wielded in such as demand as this. Already, the gathering of information concerning Police Murders and Brualizations are being collected and gathered by the National Bar Association - consisting of "black lawyers and Judges" who are preparing to place a demand for action upon Eric Holder that is "nation wide" in scope! The documentation of "25 cities" throughout the United States concerning the murders of innocent people cannot be sent without a "loud and clear" demand for action by the people!! To ignore this "time" in history would be "a fatal mistake" on the part of us all. I am looking forward to further updates from INPDUM concerning their "endorsement and support" of this action. And I will keep you advised concerning it. In the meantime, support this action if you have not done so already. And find better "more creative" ways for getting the "word out" concerning this demand. I am continually seeking "better and better' ways to get the word out there and I encourage you to do the same. The links for "support" as well as the petition shall be posted underneath. Thank you, for your support in advance.
