Well, they tell me I'm something like a "visionary" because at the time I first announced the need for nation wide action "nobody would hear me". They mocked and laughed all because it was on a petition. Yet today, not only is the word "national" being tauted about all across the country, but petitions are abounding and those who previously "mocked" them have started some of their own. Yes, "accountability" for police is being demanded left and right. And those having the ability to be heard far wide are pushing it. So what about us? What about those who initially "signed" the demand from the very beginning? Where are they? Have they left the fight? Perhaps they are satisfied to see others tauting "police accountability". Perhaps they feel confident the issues shall be remedied because it is in fact discussed nation wide. Do not think for a moment the issues of concern shall be addressed without your addressing them. What others mean in saying "police accountability" and what it truly is, can be two very different things. So before you rest confident a demand being made elsewhere is in fact a demand for all, make it your business to see to it the demands you have held from the beginning are in fact in heard. As always, I will continue to do my part in speaking and addressing the need. I hope that I can count on you in posting and sharing the petition "far and wide".
