Preventing the closure of Royal Mail Delivery Office, South Woodford London E18

The Issue

We, the undersigned, call upon the Royal Mail to rethink their plans to close the Royal Mail Delivery Office in South Woodford. This Delivery Office serves an ever-expanding population, currently standing at approximately 20 000 people, and local people have been able to collect their parcels and letters locally. With the Office being within a few minutes walk of the underground station and bus stops, and opening at 7am it is very convenient for the large numbers of commuters in the area. If this Office closes, the residents of South Woodford will have to travel to Chingford for collections. This is over 3 1/2 miles away, or a 20 minute bus ride for those without cars, and discriminates against anyone who is unable to make this journey for whatever reason. Although the Royal Mail are offering to deliver to people's homes during the week at a time of their choosing, it is questionable whether this will work for everyone: unless people are at home during the week, instead of being able to collect items at a convenient time, they will need to wait for the weekend.
