James Webb was a homophobe. He called homosexuals ‘sex perverts,’ handed over homophobic material in meetings, fired a NASA employee simply because of speculation that he was gay, and was involved in discussions about the lavender scare and had much influence over implementing homophobic federal policies. And yet, the James Webb Space Telescope’s namesake is this hateful man. Tell NASA to rename this telescope after someone who was not a bigot.
