Name a Star After Stephen Hawking

The Issue

As we all know, Stephen Hawking, the famous and highly important theoretical physicist, cosmologist, author, and Director of Research at the University of Cambridge’s Centre for Theoretical Cosmology, passed away on March 14. He created many important scientific works such as his collaboration with Roger Penrose on gravitational singularity theorems in the framework of general relativity and the theoretical prediction that black holes emit radiation, often called “Hawking radiation.” He was the author of A Brief History of Time, which was a bestseller on the British Sunday Times bestseller list for a record-breaking time of 237 weeks. Stephen Hawking was important to the fields of cosmology and theoretical physics and an inspiration to many people all over the world. He deserves to have his name written in the stars. With your signatures, I would like to have NASA name a star or other celestial body in his honor. He was one of the greatest scientists of his time and he lived 55 years longer than what was expected. He used his time well, becoming an important figure, not just in the scientific world, but as a role model for disabled people and a true inspiration to all people as well. He should have his name recorded in the cosmos his mind so often dwelled in for all to see.
