Please do not shut this facebook group down (archive it). You’ve built an incredible community here of over 20k people from around the world! You can continue utilizing this group to catapult interest for other missions, and related groups, or calls for entry to attend NASA Social events in real life!

To be honest, we do not see NASA's reasoning or understand the marketing strategy in place choosing to shut this group down. Community building is key to build support for all NASA initiatives. This group can provide an additional stream to do this.

Here are some suggestions to consider to keep this group going:

∙ If you need moderators to maintain the group, and can’t hire any, request for interns/volunteers to do it! Run protocols used traditionally in NASA Social events to qualify the moderator candidates. Make all needed assurances so they're up to par with your standards (documentation & background check included).

∙ If you need to rename the group so it makes sense to maintain, we suggest just leaving it as “Virtual NASA Social.” 

∙ If you need to create guidelines for guest moderators to be trained in, we will be happy to contribute in doing so. Or patiently await for you to build them!

Archiving this group would waste this organic social media opportunity to continue building support for NASA, it’s partners, and continued investment in space exploration. And we promise keeping this group has real dollar value in Marketing and PR for your organization and the initiatives you build and support. 

Additionally, think about all the content that you can reuse to promote NASA from what group members have created and will continue creating in this space? It can reinforce to the general public the you are supported by real people all over the world that are in favor of space exploration just by letting this community live and grow.

Lastly, let us most sincerely say it’s offered an incredible relief for so many of us during our country's time of crisis. TRUE AND UNBELIEVABLE CRISIS. We ask you, please don't take this ray of online sunshine away from us.

We make this appeal to you, please keep it open. It’s a space full of hope, and a view from digital space of people coming together for a better future.
