A splash park is a great idea, but not at the expense of our island pool.
Please! Narrandera Shire Council leave the island pool at Lake Talbot alone! Australia is in the middle of a drowning epidemic; up 51%! Kids are learning to swim less and less and tragic accidents are happening. Here in Narrandera we run an amazing and cheap learn to swim program made up of pure volunteer instructors. We have 100+ kids most nights. If you take away the island pool we have basically nowhere to teach this program. By replacing the pool with a splash park you’re not allowing any space for kids to build their confidence in the water. Kids need to learn to swim!

If you fall over while playing football or netball you can injure yourself, but if you fall into a pool and can’t swim you may drown! Our pool draws so many tourist & visitors to our town, who are always envious of the amazing facilities we offer and the amount of pool space we have!!! Don’t take this away!
