The Town of Narragansett sent a notice to the RIDEM that it needs to demolish the building. Here is a link to the article that was published in the Narragansett Times and the South County Independent: Town is ordering the RIDEM to demolish the Lighthouse Inn.
A deadline gave the RIDEM 30 days to respond.
However, the question is: If the RIDEM fails to respond, will the Town go to court and seek an order to have a judge to order the RIDEM to demolish its property as it is an environmental hazard, a health hazard, and an economic burden for the State of Rhode Island.
How is a 10 Billion dollar developer allowed to create this environmental, health, and economic burden on State leased land by the Rhode Island Department of Environmental Management is beyond my comprehension?
If the Rhode Island Attorney General's Office fails to act, that will be a tragedy too. Please try to reach out to one family or friend to sign this petition. Our next milestone is 5000 signatures.
My editorial was printed out in the Narragansett Times and the South County Independent.
