Dear Director Terry Gray, Legal Counsel Mary Kay, Governor McKee, and State Properties Committee Representatives,
Let us hope and pray the RIDEM, the State Properties Commission, and Our Governor will not ignore the will of our elected officials, our Town Manager, our Town Planner, the town council members, and the voice of the President of our Town Council Jesse Pugh, so on Wednesday, December 15th, 2021, the Town of Narragansett's Proposal will be selected for the land lease in Galilee, RI. In addition, we have the support from the voices from the Friends of Galilee (a group of highly intelligent individuals who have dedicated their lives to improve the development of Galilee), several of the group members are Drew James Mcgee (President and Treasurer), Deb Aubin (Vice President and Secretary), Sherry Carberry (DIrector of Marketing and Communications) and her husband Charles Carberry (consultant and landscape architect), Harold Schofield (President of the Narragansett Pier Residents' Association), and representatives from the Galilee Advisory Committee all support the Town of Narragansett plan for Galilee. The Town of Narragansett Proposal has been supported by multiple research studies, whereas the alternative plans have not been supported by anyone besides the two companies who forwarded their proposals. In addition, I have been recently appointed to the Galilee Advisory Committee, and I fully support the Town of Narragansett Proposal. We also have an online petition at the change.org website that has over 2200 signatures that shows the support of the Town of Narragansett's Proposal from our residents and all those who love Galilee. Let's hope our voices do not fall on deaf ears.
In the movie, It's a Wonderful Life, the Town had to rally to save Bedford Falls from a Mr. Potter who was only concerned about his greed regardless of what harm would happen to the town and its residents. Let us hope no modern-day Mr. Potters will take away our Gem of a Village: Galilee from our Beloved Town. Our Town manages many properties and land areas very successfully. In Narragansett we have one of the lowest tax rates in the State of Rhode Island. Our Town Administrators never let any of its properties become neglected so that the property must now be condemned as what has happened to the property leased out by Procaccianti Developers. Our properties have never been neglected, so they became an eyesore and attract scavengers as a result of such neglect. Procaccianti Developers had their chance to help enhance the area of Galilee when they held their lease, and they failed miserably. It would be reckless and suspect for our Government Agencies to renew a lease with Procaccinati Developers as the developers have shown a breach of their prior lease agreement and Procaccianti Developers let the leased land become a liability to the Town of Narragansett. A seafood processing plant should also not even be considered as the land is not even zoned industrial and it will harm not help our Village of Galilee. Would a seafood processing plant entice any of you to take a trip down to Galilee? A seafood processing plant will not help our Village of Galilee nor its fishermen. Let the Quonset Area Aqua Development Company build their seafood processing plant in an industrial area in Quonset Point. The company's name would be a perfect fit for that location too. Let us hope and pray the will of all those who love Galilee will prevail. The Town of Narragansett's Proposal is the only viable proposal for our Gem of a Village: Galilee.
Respectively Submitted,
Dr. Albert Alba
