Dear Signers,
Some of our colleges have started online classes. These are often disrupted by the sound of air sirens in Ukraine. We see our professors move to bunkers so they can continue teaching.

Seeing such visuals on a daily basis, and hearing about the huge scale of destruction and civilian casualties in Ukraine induces pangs of anxiety and depression among many of us. We grow even more sure that there is no end in sight to this war. And with the huge damage to Ukraine’s public infrastructure, it could take months, if not years, for Ukraine to let us return to our universities.
We’ve submitted memorandums explaining our situation to the Prime Minister's Office, the Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, Union Health Minister Dr Mansukh Mandaviya, and several other Members of Parliament.
Recently, we met the Union Education Minister Shri Dharmendra Pradhan. He explained to us that any solution for Indian medical students enrolled in Ukraine would need sign offs from the Health Ministry and the National Medical Commission (NMC). However, the Minister assured us that the government was cognisant of our plight and was working to devise a solution that could help Indian medical students enrolled in Ukraine, continue their MBBS studies in India
While we appreciate that so many Members of Parliament have raised our concerns, we’d also like to press for a solution as soon as possible. As seen in the NMC's latest guidelines, foreign MBBS degrees risk being deemed invalid in India if they persist with the online mode of learning for too long. Medicine can’t be studied online, so we don’t want to continue with just online classes for too long.
I urge you all to tweet this petition by clicking here. Let’s continue raising our voices so that we get a firm response from the government.
