Rename Delhi airport to Shri Guru Tegh Bahadur Intl airport on his 400th Birth anniversary
Why this petition matters

The life and the legacy of Shri Guru Tegh Bahadur is inspiring and there is no reason why we shouldn't find every opportunity to celebrate him.
So far we have not. We have not done enough to respect our cultural heroes. Today, many of our youth are not even aware of their glorious heritage. And lack of cultural awareness causes cultural malnutrition, and weakens national integration, which is unfortunate in a country with such civilizational wealth.
On his 400th birth anniversary in April 2021, we have a rare opportunity - let's make a belated start - let's honor the New Delhi international airport by giving it his glorious name.
Why him? Well if you don't know about him then this is PRECISELY the point of this petition. Because if you don't know about him even in the age of internet, then let me assure you - you don't know about your own story and your own identity. And the colonial circumstances that perpetuate this sad ignorance must change!
Why Delhi? Though all of India is his, Delhi is most significant. Delhi is where he (and his disciples) defied the reign of terror and humbled the arrogance of the despots by making the sacrifices we must always be mindful of (and grateful for).
Why Airport? Because that's where we go; that's where we cannot not go. Our inspirations must not be confined only to museums and shrines but they should live with us.
He will be glad to see us free and flying. In modern India, let our flights to the promising future be guided and blessed by our civilizational past.
Let's all come together to have Shri Guru Tegh Bahadur International Airport in April 2021.
Thank You!
