Demand for fair investigation.
The Issue
Media rushed in announced their verdict. The blame game began and soon the suicide became a national news taking support of caste based discrimination.
No evedience found the three helpless doctors write to MARD to investigate it on proper grounds and not mere on basis of media pressure.
It cleared seemed to be a case of misuse of attrocity. Yet the three doctors who have saved many lives and sacrificed everything seem to be struggling with their own while carrying out their duties faithfully.
Many questions arises like :-
1. Did Payal Tadvi commit suicide because of personal issues because her husband is nowhere in picture till now.
2. A troubled marriage, a promising career but the inability; perceived or real, to complete it, lack of discipline leading to overburden of work to be done. Many factors must have weighed on her mind when Payal decided to hang herself. Why single out one to nail the accused?
3. There is a clear report about payal tadvi telling her mother not to disclose her caste. Then how can this be a case of casteism more importantly the case of attrocity.
The Trio Doctors, who are undergoing PG degree in Nair Medical College are arrested and under judicial custody for over 60 days on the charges of atrocities on scheduled tribes, abetment to suicide and ragging of Dr Payal Tadvi, who hanged herself in a hostel room on 22 May 2019, who was their junior.
The case is again and example of misutilising provisions of atrocities act, which stipulates arrest of other caste candidate without fair probe, no need of any evidence and no bail.
Right from the day of arrest, injustice is evident. On the day of arrest, one of the Ministers visited police station and instructed authorities to add end number of sections of CPC, so that they would not come out of custody in their life time.
When police failed to get any evidence in 2 days PCR the case was transferred to crime branch probably for manipulating evidences at the intervention of Chief Minister.
The learned brilliant Doctors were tortured like hardcore criminals while interrogation during their judicial custody initially for 5 days and later for 5 days before charge sheet is filed.
The bail for these innocents is also declined with the reason that these trio would tamper the evidence and are threat to witnesses in the case even after prolonged duration of custody on one or the other grounds.
Foul play is smelled seeing the way the trio have been handled so far. Strong protest and support needs to be extended to these medical students from all the end, community and volunteers to have fair probe and justice for them. This is motive to open this page. Public in general and particularly those against the act on atrocities on schduled tribes to like this page and join us to protect trio medical students.
