The Napier City Council want to take skate zone away and make a skate park down the road which was supposed to be bigger and better, we were looking forward to the change, but when we recently looked at the finalized plans it became apparent that they had taken out all the good ramps, like the mini mega, the foam pits, and many other various ramps, all gone. But instead replaced with 2 quarters , the vert ramp, and a jump box. The rest of the design is concrete and mainly plaza. There is no doubt that this skate park has been designed for skateboarders, we want a park for everyone, not just one sport. The sad thing about all this is we already have a world class skate park, people travel from out of town to go to this skate park. Even people from Australia come over and say how great the park is! Skate Zone should not move/be downgraded, it should stay at its current location and let the Napier Skating Club grow like it has been for the last 60+years Please sign this petition to show us your support, to show the Napier City Council that we don't want Skate Zone to relocate! Skate zone should not have to be sacrificed for a development of a lower class facility.
