We, the workers of Pure Food and Wine, are asking for your support.

We take pride in our community and are honored to be a part of the tradition of ethical, sustainable, and innovative cuisine. Many of us have dedicated nearly a decade collectively building this restaurant.

Despite being owed nearly half a month's wages after repeated bounced paychecks, and the abrupt closure of our restaurant, we are still here. We believe in the mission of this restaurant and want to return to doing what we love.

Not only was Pure Food and Wine a pillar in the vegan community, it also attracted lovers of creative cuisine from all over the world. It generated a unique culinary experience for the thousands of customers that came through its doors. It was also our home.

While Sarma (the owner) became its highly recognizable face, it was the dedication, creativity and labor of the workers who loved our home that made Pure Food and Wine the successful place that it was.

While the doors are currently closed, we have become aware that there is active interest in opening the restaurant under new ownership — new ownership that is truly committed to respecting the workers as much as the food they create.

We are urging the landlord to consider the appeal of its dedicated employees and prospective new ownership to provide NYC with an ethically and ecologically responsible raw, vegan restaurant.
