The Issue

STOP the Federal Bureau of Land Management’s approved plan to build an oil well & pipeline within the grounds of the Carrizo Plain National Monument!

Over three hundred years ago, California’s Central Valley was a vast grassland where antelope and elk roamed freely through lush wildflowers. Today, amid urban and agriculture developments, this still remains as the single largest native grassland in California, sprawling over 246,812-acres!

The Carrizo Plain National Monument is one of California’s best kept secrets and only a few hours from Los Angeles. This plain is home to a diverse community of wildlife and plant species many of which are threatened. A total number of 13 endangered species which are endemic to California.

This land is equally important to preserve as the ground is sacred for local Native Americans. Here you will also find Soda Lake, a dry lake bed. This the largest remaining natural alkali wetland in Southern California.
