Fireworks have become an increasing problem especially in recent months. There has been huge increase in complaints of fireworks going off in towns and major cities all across America from NYC, Boston, Minneapolis, San Francisco, Chicago, Pittsburgh etc.  Not only are fireworks disruptive, loud and dangerous they are harmful to the environment, animals and wildlife as well as national security!

"A case study found that within 1 hour of fireworks displays, strontium levels in the air increased 120 times, magnesium 22 times, barium 12 times, potassium 11 times, and copper (Cu) 6 times more than the amount already present in the air before the event" Forbes Magazine 12/31/2019

Fireworks have been known to stress out animals domestic and wild. Dogs and cats are sensitive to the loud sounds of fireworks and can be harmful to their hearing leading to deafness. According to a letter published in The Salem News on Jun 17th 2020 birds have fled their nest leaving their young while deer and other animals have been startled into running into roadways and one event in Alaska caused the death of 5000 birds. Wildfires have also been caused by fireworks and on June 28th caused 100 people to flee from 42 homes in Utah.

Fireworks can also be harmful to untrained professionals that lead to hospital related injuries, third degree burns, loss of eyes, fingers, amputation and death. The Consumer Product Safety Commission states that on average of 180 people each day around the  month of July Fourth go to the emergency room. In fact even "sparklers are the leading cause of fireworks-related injuries, safety agency says" according to an article posted Jun 27th 2018 in ABC news.  Furthermore the homemade bombs used in Boston Marathon bombing in 2013 were made with fireworks purchased in New Hampshire.

I am asking for a Federal ban for all class of fireworks from consumers who do not have a permit to display fireworks in a large open space such as a stadium or football field to be sold fireworks and forbid them from private use!
