In 2020, the US Congress approved Pandemic Unemployment Assistance Programs, to help the workers who were hardest-hit by the COVID-19 Pandemic.

Unfortunately, these benefits are taxed by the Federal Government.  Even if a recipient elected to have withholding taken from their benefits, in many states, withholding was not taken from the additional $600 or $300 weekly benefits.

In April millions of unemployed and underemployed Americans will face a surprise tax bill.

We ask Congress and The Biden Administration to make Pandemic-related unemployment benefits tax-free for 2020 and 2021.
